At PERU PATH, we share the concerns of travelers who may be worried about what might happen if they need to cancel or postpone their vacation in Peru.

Greater flexibility for the “new normal”:

Cancellation or postponement due to force majeure:

In response to the global situation arising from the COVID-19 coronavirus, where travelers are forced to cancel or postpone their confirmed reservation date due to travel restrictions introduced by the national governments of the guests’ countries of origin or residence, or by Peru’s own national government , or in the event that all international airlines currently operating routes to Peru cancel frequencies to Peru or to our destinations within Peru, making it impossible for guests to start their itinerary, PERU PATH contemplates a flexible cancellation and/or postponement policy.

In case of cancellation:

The company agrees to provide a refund of the tour price paid, less all non-refundable costs and commissions paid to third parties, and less all non-refundable bank or credit card charges incurred at the time of purchase or resulting from the refund process.

Flexible Deferral:

Travelers may reschedule their arrival dates, for any available date up to two years after their original scheduled arrival date.

In the event that a client is forced to reschedule their arrival date as a result of issues related to the global coronavirus situation, they may do so by informing the company at least 72 hours prior to their scheduled arrival date.

PERU PATH will not charge a penalty or apply any additional cost for such changes. Confirmation of new dates will be subject to availability from our service providers (e.g. hotels and airlines) and available locations (e.g. Inca Trail network).

Documentation:

The reason for cancellation or postponement under the above conditions must be accompanied by the relevant documentation supporting the guest(s) request, or if applicable, medical certificate.

Reservations Inca Trail to Machu Picchu:

PERU PATH reserves and pays the Ministry of Culture in advance the permits required for trekking itineraries that include the Inca Trail (such as Inca Trail 4 days / 3 nights; Inca Trail 2 days / 1 night; Inca Trail 5- days / 4 nights; Mount Salkantay – Inca Trail 7 days / 6 nights). The prices of these itineraries, which include entrance fees to the Inca Trail, porters, cooks and train tickets, are non-refundable.

Regulations for the Sustainable Tourism Use of the Inca Trail Network within the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary. Under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment, National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State, Ministry of Culture, Cusco Department of Culture and Machu Picchu Archaeological Park.

In case of no-show, the company will retain the full amount paid:

PERU PATH is not responsible for the non-arrival of a client due to cancelled or delayed flights. The company is also not responsible for damage or loss of luggage, accidents or acts of God. In the event of any of these circumstances, upon request, the company will provide a certificate to the client for insurance purposes

Unused services:

In the event that a client abandons a tour for any reason, any additional expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the client and the company is not responsible for any refund, whether full or partial, of monies paid for any and all unused services.

Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover loss of deposit or final monies paid as a result of unavoidable cancellation due to illness or other causes, loss of personal baggage, medical expenses, etc. All travelers should be adequately insured against personal accident and medical expenses.

We recommend a short-term insurance policy covering the selected trip, with coverage in case of illness, accident, emergency evacuation, expenses incurred due to flight delays, schedule changes, weather delays, missed connections, strikes, natural disasters, or unforeseeable events.

We recommend that all travelers involved in adventure activities such as trekking and excursions to the jungle region of Peru be fully insured.

PERU PATH recommends that all travelers have insurance that covers, in addition to emergency medical expenses, Covid-19 related assistance (medical examinations, treatment, flight changes, extended stay in the country during quarantine).

Regarding mountainous terrain:

Many of the itineraries offered by PERU PATH are located in mountainous areas that have a geographical configuration that in their natural state may present difficulties or dangers that may be hidden by snow, grass or vegetation. Some of these difficulties or obstacles may include, but are not limited to, loose rocks, trees, accumulated vegetation, fast-flowing rivers carrying rocks or stones, fallen vegetation, hollows or depressions below the surface, variable water quality, and challenging weather conditions.

Due to the presence of natural forests, rugged terrain or bad weather, participants may become lost or separated from their guides or the rest of the group. Communication in mountainous terrain is often difficult and, in the event of an accident, immediate medical and rescue assistance may not be available. Weather conditions can be extreme and can change rapidly and without warning.
