day 1

Today in the morning we will pass by your hotel to start our excursion to the Archaeological Center of Moray and the impressive Salineras de Maras.

MARAS (3000 METERS / 9842 FEET).

Maras (3000 meters / 9842 feet), Maras served as a fortress and was the town that provided salt to the entire Inca empire. Currently you can see the adobe church, whose interior has a cross carved in granite, canvases of apostles and saints

In the direction of the northeast of the town are the famous salt mines of Maras, made up of around 3,500 small wells, installed on the side of the Qaqawiñay mountain, the wells are filled with water that comes from a salt water hole which by evaporation leave the salt, in the time of the Incas this product was of great importance so much so that historians compare it as the gold of the time of the Incas is currently collected and selected for national and international sale.

MORAY (3,500 METERS / 11,482 FEET).

Being a town of great importance Moray is located southwest of Maras approximately 9 km away is the archaeological complex of Moray, it is made up of enormous natural depressions to which they were adapted for strategic constructions currently defined as concentric terraces with their respective irrigation canals, what surprises us most is the average temperature difference between the top and bottom of 15 °C, having a difference of approximately 60 meters from the surface to the base of the structure.

In these natural formations backed by terraces it is possible to have an isolated environment, which today would be considered as greenhouses for the study and improvement and adaptation of different products.
